Berlin student kidnapped. Professor Huxtable — who brought this to attention — taught the student who went missing. The son of a 'very important man.' Sent to study in Berlin after parent's divorce. Joint custody. Mother lives in Southern France. Father is a politician. Keeping out — doesn't want this news to be in the papers. Last seen on May 18th entering his dorm room. Flatmates didn't hear him leave, or notice anything unusual. Window found open next morning. Opened from the inside. No footprints underneath. Door locked. Bed slept in. Jacket, backpack, and shoes all present. Professor Heidegger, German master, went missing the same night. Lived opposite the dorm of the missing student. Flowers underneath Heidegger's window were trampled. Shirt and socks left lying on the ground of the room. Left in a hurry? His bicycle is missing. Dry weather lately. Difficult to find tracks. According to all questioned, there is no connection between the missing student and Professor Heidegger. Interviewing the boy's father later. Will be investigating the surrounding grounds and paths. Update: 5/23/17 The boy's hat was found on the bike trail. The German master was found dead, and the police are now involved. Update: 5/24/17 Following the bike trail, to tyre tracks were found, both from different bikes, heading away from campus. A Dunlop and a Palmer. The German master's bike was a Palmer. Who's where the other tracks? The boy's? Further up, the tracks were covered in cattle hoof marks. Deep tyre tracks. Fast. Pursuit? Escape? Blood. A Palmer bike, and a shoe by a bush. Professor Heidegger, the German master, was found dead. Blow to the head. Skull partially crushed in. During the investigation of the trail, not a single cow was seen. So far, it seems like someone killed the German master, then placed cow prints over and around the tyre tracks (and possibly their own footprints) to make it seem like he was killed by — cows?? Following the Dunlop trail, later today. At 'The Low Bräu' tavern, undercover. SOLVED! Summary to follow: The boy was found at 'The Low Bräu' tavern His father, while not being involved in the kidnapping, did know where his son was. One of his secretaries, Jakob Wild, was a son from a past affair. Knowing what the information would do to his status, kept it hidden. Jakob Wild knew this, and used the information to pressure his father into giving him a bigger share of his will. That still wasn't enough. Jakob texted Arthur, his half brother, that his mother was in Berlin and wanted to see him. It worked. He had fallen for the trap. Jakob had hired the tavern landlord, Derek Schmidt, to help in the abduction. When Schmidt saw that the German Master was following Arthur, he killed him. Jakob, scared that this had gone to far, had confessed all of this to his father, and he agreed to keep Arthur at the tavern. Schmidt was supposed to make his escape during this time, but was arrested before he could. Jakob Wild was also arrested, and Arthur is safe and sound. The cloven hoof prints were faked to throw anybody who was following them off the track. These are the facts, and my thoughts on the case provided by Sherlock Holmes and John H. Watson.
