Two weeks before now, Mr. Jonas Oldacre was murdered in his whiskey distillery in Scotland. Mr. Hector McFarlane was made the sole heir of his entire estate yesterday. The murder weapon was McFarlane's cane, and Oldacre was dragged outside and ignited to hide any trace of the crime. The night before the murder, Oldacre made a will and listed McFarlane to inherit his estate. McFarlane had been in hiding for the last two weeks, because the evidence was suggestive of him being the murderer, although he insists that he is innocent. He is in the custody of the police until his innocence is proven. Update: 3/5/17 Given a full tour of the estate. Found nothing new. Update: 3/6/17 Text received: Not allowed to view the evidence until later tomorrow. Update: 3/7/17 A thumb print was found at the scene of the crime. Just by the naked eye, comparing it with McFarlane's thumb, they were the same. However, the day before it was not there. It seems as though McFarlane was framed. Now going to Oldacre's old house. SOLVED! Summary to follow: Once at the house, a fire was lit, and Oldacre, thought to be dead, came out of it. Due to the severe burns at the crime scene, and the smell of burning flesh, everybody had assumed that the murderer had set Oldacre's body on fire. Although, the remains turned out to be those of several rabbits. Mcfarlane had married Oldacre's daughter, and he considered him a bad husband to her. Oldacre was having finantial problems, and because of which, had been planning on faking his death as not to deal with them. Framing Mcfarlane would solve both of his problems. So, in conclusion, Mr. Hector Farlane was indeed innocent all along. These are the facts, and my thoughts on the case provided by Sherlock Holmes and John H. Watson.
